Diazinon

Insecticide Diazinon

Description

Diazinon is a versatile organophosphate insecticide that works well against both soil-dwelling and above-ground pests. It's particularly effective against insects that live in the soil and feed on plant roots, such as grubs, wireworms, cutworms, and root maggots. These pests can cause serious damage because they attack the roots underground where you can't see them, often killing young plants or stunting their growth. Diazinon can also be used to control some above-ground pests like aphids, thrips, and certain beetles when applied as a foliar spray. When you apply it to the soil, it creates a protective zone around the roots that kills soil insects when they come into contact with it. This makes it very useful for protecting newly planted seeds and young seedlings, which are especially vulnerable to soil pests. You can use it on vegetables, fruits, and field crops. The best way to use it is to mix it into the soil at planting time or apply it as a soil drench around the base of plants. However, it's important to know that diazinon is toxic to bees and other beneficial insects, so you should avoid using it when plants are flowering. Also, it can be harmful to birds and other wildlife, so use it carefully and follow all label instructions. Always wait the required number of days (usually 14-21 days) after application before harvesting your crops.
