Nicosulfuron

Herbicide Nicosulfuron

Description

Nicosulfuron is a selective systemic herbicide that kills grass weeds and some broadleaf weeds but is safe for corn. The word 'selective' means it can kill certain types of plants (weeds) while leaving other plants (corn) unharmed. The word 'systemic' means that when you spray it on weeds, it gets absorbed into the plant and moves throughout it, killing it from the inside. When you apply nicosulfuron to weeds, they will start to turn yellow and die within a week or two. It works especially well on annual and perennial grasses and some broadleaf weeds. One of the advantages of nicosulfuron is that it can be used after your corn has already started growing, which is called post-emergence application. This means you can wait to see what weeds come up in your field and then spray them specifically. Nicosulfuron is commonly used in corn fields where it's very effective at controlling weeds without harming the corn plants. However, it's very important to know that nicosulfuron can damage or kill many other crops, so you must only use it on corn. Also, nicosulfuron can stay in the soil for some time and can affect crops that you plant later in the same field. You must wait the required number of days (usually 30-60 days or more) after application before planting other crops in the same field. You can use it on corn when weeds are actively growing. Always wait the required number of days (usually 7-14 days) after spraying before harvesting your corn. Always follow the label instructions very carefully and wear protective clothing when using this product.
